APPEARANCE Stormhounds are large, wolf-like predators formed from packed snow and hardened ice, their bodies constantly shedding fine frost as they move. Their coats are matte white and uneven, blending seamlessly into blizzards and snowfall. Eyes glow pale and cold, like distant lanterns seen through storm fog. Their breath fogs thickly, crystallizing in the air before vanishing. When they run, their forms blur at the edges, half-lost in the storm that follows them. They are rarely seen clearly. They are almost always heard. BEHAVIOR Stormhounds hunt in disciplined packs, communicating through low, mournful howls that carry unnaturally far through blizzards. They are patient, encircling prey silently and waiting for exhaustion, injury, or hesitation before striking. They favor weakened or isolated targets, but will test stronger foes through feints and probing attacks. They are not cruel. They are efficient. Stormhounds avoid unnecessary risk and will retreat if a hunt turns costly. However, once blood is drawn, they become relentless, pressing the advantage until the prey falls or escapes the storm entirely. Where blizzards thicken, Stormhounds are near. Where silence follows a howl, they are already moving.
