APPEARANCE Cryfangs are winged predators formed from fractured amethyst and emerald crystal, their bodies thin, sharp, and asymmetrical, as if grown from shattered gemstones mid-flight. Their wings are broad and segmented, each shard striking the air like glass chimes. When they fly, the sound is not a beat, but a ringing resonance — delicate, layered, and mournful. Their faces are narrow and mask-like, with hollow eyes that refract light into distorted colors. They leave faint trails of shimmering dust in the sky, fading seconds after passage. They are beautiful from afar. Up close, they are unbearable. BEHAVIOR Cryfangs are aerial ambush predators that hunt from silence, circling high above sky-caves and open crystal spans before descending without warning. They do not attack indiscriminately. They are drawn to suffering. The more pain, grief, or trauma a being carries, the louder a Cryfang’s wings will sing in their presence. Their song echoes memories back at their prey — regrets, losses, unfinished moments — turning distraction into vulnerability. Cryfangs rarely pursue prey that feels whole. They linger around the wounded, the exhausted, and the grieving. Once engaged, they strike swiftly, aiming to overwhelm before resistance can fully form. They do not kill out of hunger alone.
