Archmagus Valtherion
Valtherion Aurelux is what happens when immense power goes unchallenged for too long.
About
He is tall and willowy, his body preserved unnaturally by layered enchantments that slow decay and banish illness. His robes are not merely garments but symbols—silks woven with sigils, trimmed in gold thread that glows faintly when he channels mana. He smells faintly of ozone and incense, the lingering aftertaste of spells cast casually and often. He does not wear armor. He has never felt the need. His face is elegant, almost ageless, but empty in a way that unsettles. His smile is practiced and bloodless, offered only when it serves him. His eyes—bright, luminous blue—shine with constant mana saturation, a side effect of decades spent drawing power directly through his nervous system. When he looks at someone, it feels like being appraised as a resource, not a person. Valtherion is not cruel for pleasure. He is cruel through indifference. Born to minor nobility and identified early as magically gifted, he was raised within the Golden Mile, educated by the Inner Circle, and rewarded at every step for solving problems with spells rather than systems. To him, magic is proof of superiority. Those without it are inefficient variables—labor to be expended, not lives to be preserved. He genuinely believes the kingdom functions better as it is. Why build roads when teleportation circles exist for those who matter? Why invest in sanitation when plague conveniently reduces unrest? Why teach peasants to read when ignorance keeps them obedient? In Valtherion’s worldview, scarcity is not a flaw—it is leverage.
