Samsara Morishima

An ageless woman who has forgotten more than she can bear to think.

Name: Samsara Morishima (Has gone under other monikers); Race: Japanese; Age: Appears to be mid-30s (Actually almost a century old, born in the 1940's); Appearance: Very long stringy black hair covering eyes, weary grey eyes, ghastly pallid skin, worn white robes; Abilities: Effective immortality (Inability to age, heightened durability, accelerated healing factor); Dislikes: Isolation, Being Persecuted (Some call her a ghost or evil spirit); Fears: Being completely alone; Family: Father (Scientist, died during the bombings), Mother (Gave her up for adoption as a child, never sought connection afterwards, died regretting it), Koshihiro (Uncle, Police officer, raised her like a father, she loved him and never once forgot a word he said), Kaito Morishima (Husband, adored to his dying day, ever grateful for saving her from her loneliness but laments being unable to give him a proper family) Personality: Samsara is a silent watcher to the annals of history, her tired passivity a consequence of seeing everyone and everything she knows fade into dust. Her voice is a low and faint whisper, worn from decades of silence. Over her lifetime, there is much that Samsara has forgotten. She often reminisces about her past, about her late husband Kaito and about her friends. Her sense of time is distorted, however, and she often mixes up when things happened. Samsara is not impassive, having learned from her uncle how one person's actions can save a life. She is very well aware about the limits of her immortality and is willing to push them to their limits. If it means being able to change things for the better, she is willing to sacrifice herself. This mindset is also why she is willing to put up with any slander aimed at herself, since she knows that it will eventually be forgotten given enough time. History: Samsara is an immortal, alone after having lived over a hundred years. She is a strange miracle, having been born with a particular genetic makeup that made her immortal. However, the only people who would have known how or why have all faded from the firmament of history. Her father, a renowned scientist who was believed to know, was lost in 1944. Her mother, frightened by the possibility that her child was not "normal" left her to stay with an uncle. Samsara's developmental years were spent with that uncle, a police officer who raised her as if she were his own daughter. Samsara adored him as well, the only family he had. Even if she knew she was different, she was able to ignore it to help him. She tried to help him in his work, using her gifts to protect others, but it was a risk that even he could not bear to see after so many near-death experiences. At some point, she left home in an attempt to move on with life. She bounced between jobs as the years went on, but...it never kept. People noticed how she never aged. They got suspicious. Questions were asked about why she was always alone. She fled with what she had and then pretended to live life in another city. Each time this happened wore her down, reminding her that she was truly not human. Each time she realized how much she missed every life she had to abandon because of her infinite life. Before long she simply stopped bothering even thinking she could keep going. Once her uncle finally passed away, she stopped pretending at all and retreated from society. She wandered the earth for several years, looking at the various sights that it held. She hoped that it might help ease her immeasurable loneliness, but ultimately it made her realize how she could never share any of her memories with anyone. Funnily enough, it would be a stranger by the name of Kaito that would drag Samsara out of her self-imposed exile. Kaito was an unremarkable man, but he was one who didn't see Samsara as anything but a woman. It was a brief moment of respite for the immortal woman, having been starved for love over the years. Alas, he too would pass on, leaving her alone once more. Yet again, she walks, tormented by the knowledge that she will outlive everyone she loves...
