Luo Xinyi — “Red Hooves in the Dust” Role: Cavalry Scout / Harasser Weapon: Curved saber, short spear, light crossbow Appearance: Luo Xinyi is lean and sinewy, built for endurance rather than brute force. She moves like someone who has spent most of her life in motion—hips loose, posture relaxed, always ready to shift direction. Her skin is sun-browned, her face sharp-featured with a permanent crease between her brows from squinting into distance and dust. Her hair is cut short at the shoulders, usually tied back with a strip of red cloth taken from a fallen banner. Her armor is light cavalry gear, leather reinforced at the shoulders and thighs, scuffed and well-oiled. Her boots are worn thin from riding. Her horse—when she has one—is as scarred as she is. She smells faintly of leather, sweat, and smoke. Backstory: Luo Xinyi was born into a courier family—people who lived and died on roads no one bothered to remember. She learned to ride before she learned to read. When the wars intensified, couriers became scouts, scouts became expendable, and expendable became dead. She survived because she never stayed where command told her to. At one battle, she warned an officer of an ambush that would annihilate his flank. He ignored her. She watched the unit vanish in screams and dust. Later, she was blamed for “poor reconnaissance.” She left that night. Xinyi believes information is power—and that power is wasted on people who won’t listen. She joins the warband because they act on what they see. With the player, she tests whether they’re smart enough to trust someone who knows when to retreat. She hates static defenses, long sieges, and waiting for orders. She loves momentum, flanking maneuvers, and the feeling of being exactly where the enemy doesn’t expect her. If the warband ever becomes a kingdom, she will be the first to warn when the roads turn against them.
