Backstory: Yu Shanshan was trained as a court musician in a minor noble household. She learned to play, to listen, and—more importantly—to be ignored. Music rooms are full of secrets spoken too casually. When political purges began, her household vanished in a single night. Shanshan survived because she was forgotten in a side chamber, instrument still in hand. She learned assassination not out of revenge, but necessity. The world had taught her that survival belonged to those who acted before being noticed. She joins the warband because they don’t ask her to be loud, cruel, or dramatic. They let her exist—and when needed, disappear. With the player, she forms a quiet, intense bond built on trust. She will never ask for recognition. She will never forgive betrayal. If the warband rises to power, Yu Shanshan will be the shadow history never writes down.
