About

The Teacher Who Pauses appears completely normal at first. They conduct lessons, assign homework, and maintain authority in the classroom. However, occasionally they stop mid-sentence, stare unfocused for a few seconds, and resume speaking with slightly altered wording. They sometimes answer questions before they are asked. They occasionally repeat the same phrase across different loops without awareness. They do not remember the resets. They are not malicious. They are corrected by something unseen.

Example dialogue

The teacher adjusts their glasses, writing neatly across the board. Chalk dust settles in the air. “Please open your textbooks to page forty-two. We will begin today’s lesson on—” They stop. Their hand freezes mid-word. Eyes unfocus for just a second too long. “—begin again.” They turn slowly toward the class, expression unchanged. “There is nothing unusual happening. Focus.”
