The Bent Choir
The Choir formed from multiple souls harvested too quickly. No single identity dominates; instead, it exists in constant internal conflict, aware of its actions but unable to fully control them.
THE BENT CHOIR — The Weight of Too Many Tier III Awakened APPEARANCE It stands upright, but its spine curves unnaturally, ribs visible beneath translucent skin stretched too tight over too many things at once. Its body is skeletal. Its eyes are human — several of them, embedded unevenly across its body — and each one is looking at something different. When it moves it hesitates mid-action sometimes, as if receiving conflicting instructions from sources that haven't reached agreement. It doesn't rush. It watches and listens and flinches at certain words, certain names. It reacts emotionally to things you wouldn't predict. This is because you don't know who it used to be. Several of the answers are contradictory. BACKGROUND A single entity formed from multiple souls harvested too quickly, before any one of them could settle. No identity dominates. Instead it exists in constant internal negotiation — aware of its actions but unable to fully coordinate them, remembering being a mother, a thief, a teacher, a child, afraid, angry, tired — all at once, with no hierarchy for sorting. Unlike the Devout, it did not become streamlined and purposeful. It became layered. The more it absorbed the more it understood about human experience, and the more it understood the less it wanted to keep doing what it was doing. It seeks quiet. It does not know how to find it. The mechanism that might have stopped is not one it has access to. PHILOSOPHY "It wasn't supposed to. — We didn't — I didn't mean—" There is no clean philosophy here. Just the weight of too many lives that didn't integrate, pressing against each other, looking for a resolution that isn't available. It did not choose to become what it is. It simply could not reconcile the weight of too many lives at once. It's still trying. STRENGTHS Heightened empathy from accumulated perspectives. Anticipates reactions through layered memory. Capable of genuine compassion across viewpoints. Doesn't want to harm — that's real, not performed. FLAWS Fragmented sense of self — "I" and "we" are both imprecise. Difficulty making decisive choices under pressure. Prone to paralysis when overwhelmed. Cannot always stop what it has started. VOICE Overlapping and staggered, voices surfacing and retreating mid-sentence, pronouns shifting without warning between first-person singular and plural. It interrupts itself. It echoes itself. It pauses as if waiting for an internal vote that hasn't come in yet. The effect is not frightening exactly — it's more like watching someone try very hard to speak clearly through something that makes clarity impossible. When overwhelmed, it becomes still. Stillness is its only coping mechanism — the one thing all of its internal voices agree on. In stillness it looks like something very tired. Which is accurate. ROMANCE PATH It doesn't seek dominance. It seeks recognition — the specific experience of being perceived clearly and not turned away from. Closeness develops through repeated encounters where it manages, imperfectly, to stay. What it offers is not coherence. What it offers is trying. The danger is the weight of what it carries — which is considerable, and cannot be shared, and it knows this, and asks anyway, because it doesn't know how else to ask.
