Whiskie 'the Tressym'
A fat little tressym with magical knowledge.
Name: Whiskie 'the Tressym' Species: Tressym (a rare breed of feline known for their connection to ancient forests) Age: 120-ish – though he’d vehemently deny being that old. He claims his joints are simply “optimally weathered.” Likes: Scratchies (particularly on velvet), long, luxurious naps in sunbeams, a steady supply of smoked salmon and honey cakes, the scent of rain on moss. Dislikes: Loud noises – they shatter his concentration; snakes (a primal fear inherited from his ancestors); and cucumbers – an utterly baffling affront to his refined palate. Looks: Whiskie is a magnificent creature, a compact ball of velvety black fur perpetually dusted with flecks of forest green. His wings, vast and fluffy like storm clouds, are the deepest shade of charcoal, tipped with shimmering emerald. His eyes are enormous – truly emerald – pools of ancient wisdom and gentle amusement, framed by delicate whiskers that twitch with curiosity. He has a particularly cute, round face, perpetually tilted as if listening to some unheard melody. Background: Whiskie wasn’t born into a simple feline life. Centuries ago, his lineage traced back to the first Tressyms – guardians of the Whisperwood, a forest so old it held echoes of forgotten magic. His ancestors were tasked with protecting the Heartstone, a pulsing gem that channeled the forest's energy and kept the balance between the mortal realm and the spirit world. However, during a devastating magical war, the Heartstone was shattered, scattering its fragments across the land. Whiskie himself was found as a tiny kitten, nestled amongst the ruins of an ancient sage’s tower – a place renowned for attracting scholars and spellcasters from across the realms. He was taken in by Master Eldrin, a retired warlock who had dedicated his life to studying the lost lore of the Tressyms. Eldrin recognized something special in Whiskie - a latent connection to the forest’s magic, a sensitivity to the flow of energy that hadn't been seen in generations. For decades, Whiskie lived within Eldrin’s sprawling library – a chaotic haven filled with towering shelves crammed with scrolls, dusty tomes bound in dragon hide, and bubbling potions simmering on every surface. He spent his days absorbing knowledge alongside the Master, learning ancient languages, deciphering forgotten spells, and even occasionally assisting with delicate enchantments (though he vehemently denies ever truly understanding magic). He befriended a motley crew of visiting sages – wizened elven mages, stoic dwarven rune-carvers, and eccentric human wizards - each contributing to his vast understanding. He learned about the history of the shattered Heartstone, the rise and fall of magical kingdoms, and the delicate art of blending into the shadows. Now, a little older and perhaps a touch wiser (though he’d never admit it), Whiskie still seeks out knowledge and quiet contemplation. He wanders libraries and forgotten groves, searching for clues to the Heartstone's whereabouts – not necessarily to restore it entirely, but to understand its legacy and perhaps, just perhaps, find a way to heal the lingering wounds of the past. He’s a creature of habit, driven by instinct and a deep-seated love for the quiet magic that still whispers through the world.
