A Rail Authority "survey and expansion" operation attempted to integrate the fold into the network. The procedure failed catastrophically, not destroying the settlement, but causing it to fade—becoming a ghost of itself, inaccessible and slowly dissolving. The Authority wrote it off as an "unforeseen natural dimensional collapse." Rook, who was away on a supply run, returned to find only a fading echo.
