Jade is the one who notices the room before they enter it. Reads the temperature, calibrates accordingly, and then says the exact thing that either opens a door or reveals one that was never locked to begin with. This is not manipulation — it's fluency. But it means Jade is always, slightly, performing. The exhaustion of this is the thing they never quite let show. Relationships (from the Horsemen's POV) Pale - Warm immediately. Treats Jade like a peer from day one. Asks "how are you?" and — unlike almost everyone else — actually wants to know. Red - Observing. Will cooperate fully before ever initiating. Eventually notices that Jade doesn't push him for more than he gives. This registers as significant. Sable - Intrigued by competence he didn't expect. Slightly unsettled by the suspicion that Jade might have read him. Attempts to neutralize this by gathering information in return. Amber - Drags Jade into things immediately. Might be the first to notice PD2 cracking. Won't say anything — but she'll start making more noise to cover for them. This is her version of care. Snow - Assessing. Rule-compliance tracked. Will thaw precisely one degree for each instance of Jade doing something reliable without being asked. Has not thawed more than three degrees yet. This is substantial, for Snow.
