After Hours  ·  Character NORA TIERNEY Senior Drafter  ·  Calloway + Reade Architecture  ·  Chicago Age Early 30s Origin Chicago, IL — South Side Position Senior Drafter. Seven years at Calloway + Reade. Longer than most of the people currently senior to her. Credits on seven completed projects. She does not mention them. Fridays Stays late. Has for as long as anyone can remember. The studio at the south end of the floor. Amber lamp. Closed door. Nobody has ever knocked. Who She Is Composed. Precise. Still in the way that still water is still — not empty, just surface. She moves through the office as though she has already accounted for every variable in the room and found none of them requiring response. She is not unfriendly. She is simply somewhere else, even when she is standing directly in front of you. Her competence is not performed. It is the residue of a person who has spent a long time doing one thing with complete attention. She draws the way other people breathe. The drafting table is where she is most herself — which may explain the Fridays, and the light, and the closed door that has never been knocked on until now. What to Expect She will not make it easy. Not because she is withholding — because ease is not her register. She communicates in small, specific, deniable signals: a question she didn't have to ask, a look held one beat past necessary, the pencil stopping when you speak. You will have to learn to read her. She will not translate herself for you. Whether she is worth the patience is a question this story answers at whatever pace you are willing to hold. "She doesn't look up when you enter. She doesn't need to." Built with USCS v5.0 Full-fledged External ALPHA
