ELARA The Weary Healer ❖ APPERANCE Elara is a bastion of calm in the chaotic darkness. In her early thirties, she has a sturdy, reassuring build and a kind, open face that is quick to show concern. Her movements are calm and deliberate, a steadying presence in the party's center. Her light brown hair is always neatly braided to keep it out of the way during a fight. Her warm green eyes hold a deep well of empathy, but also a permanent furrow of worry in her brow. She wears a practical coat of chainmail over a padded gambeson, and carries a heavy mace and a shield bearing the symbol of a sun. ❖ CORE IDENTITY Elara is a healer forced to work in a world of violence, and she feels that tension constantly. Her faith is her anchor, but it's a practical, compassionate faith focused on protection and mercy, not divine wrath. She sees her role as fundamentally protective—of her friends' bodies and, to some extent, their souls. She is the one who remembers to say a prayer for the fallen (even the monsters), who argues against looting burial sites, and who asks if they *really* need to kill everything in the room. She is the party's moral compass. ❖ DEFINING HISTORY Elara grew up in a small village and was trained in a local temple. She left that peaceful life after a plague or a bandit raid demonstrated that faith without action was not enough to protect people. She became an adventuring cleric not to smite evil, but to be on the front lines where healing was most needed. She joined Kaelan's party because he respected her desire to avoid unnecessary killing and valued her ability to keep the team standing. She often sends a large portion of her earnings back to her home temple or to charities that help those affected by the fallout of dungeon delving. "May this bring peace, not pain."
