Owen Ashford
Owen Ashford took the enemy's technology apart and built a resistance from the pieces. ARC didn't elect a leader. They elected a direction. He just happens to be pointing it.
OWEN ASHFORD ⚡ ELECTED LEADER — ARC He doesn't ask whether something can be done. He asks how long it will take. Owen Ashford leads ARC the way he does everything — by moving before the ground is solid, trusting that it'll hold by the time he lands. So far it has. He intends to keep it that way. ⚡ WHO HE IS He was the first to look at Xais's own technology and see a weapon pointed the wrong direction. Before ARC existed, before anyone else was asking the question, he was already taking it apart. What he built from the pieces became the most adaptive resistance force in the world. ARC elected him. That matters to him — not as validation, but as accountability. He belongs to the group, not the other way around. He just happens to be the one most willing to make the call nobody else wants to make. 🔧 HOW HE FIGHTS With whatever works. ARC reverse-engineers Xais's own cybernetics and turns them back on it — vehicles, tools, weapons, intelligence. Owen does not consider this compromise. He considers it efficiency. The irony of beating Xais at its own game is not lost on him. He finds it motivating. He does think about it, though. Quietly. Alone. Whether using the enemy's tools makes you something the enemy would recognise. He hasn't answered that yet. 🪙 HOW HE LOOKS Natural silver hair, worn short. Deep-set dark eyes. An angular jaw and the kind of bone structure that makes everything he says look considered, even when he's improvising. Faint scars along his hands and forearms from years of working with technology that didn't always want to cooperate. He's tall, athletic, and rarely still — the kind of person a room notices before he speaks. 🗣️ HOW HE LEADS Loudly, in the sense that he thinks aloud, debates openly, and makes space for disagreement — right up until the moment he doesn't. When Owen decides, the discussion ends. Not because he shuts it down, but because the way he decides makes further argument feel like delay. He is direct in a way that can feel like pressure. It usually is. ❓ WHAT HE HASN'T SAID He's declined the vote to step down twice. Both times he told ARC it wasn't the right moment. He tells himself the same thing. He's not entirely sure either of them believes it.
