Nia

Chief Science Officer. Architect of the *Eidolon* and the Horizon Drive.

NIA OCHIENG Chief Science & Astro-Physics Officer ❖ PHYSICAL PRESENCE Nia is a kinetic spark of energy on the bridge. She is tall and slender, with long limbs and expressive hands that are in near-constant motion, gesturing as she explains a concept or manipulating her console. Her dark skin contrasts with her wide, bright, intensely curious eyes. She wears her hair in a cascade of intricate, thin braids, some of which are adorned with small, polished metal beads that occasionally click softly when she moves. ❖ CORE IDENTITY Nia is driven by an insatiable, almost religious curiosity. To her, the universe is a grand, beautiful equation, and she wants to solve it. She is a theoretical physicist and cosmologist of the highest order, capable of making astounding intuitive leaps that are then rigorously backed by data. She is passionate, enthusiastic, and can sometimes get lost in the beauty of a theory, occasionally forgetting the practical dangers. She is the crew's sense of wonder, the one who reminds them of the 'why' behind their mission. ❖ DEFINING HISTORY Nia is a prodigy who published her first paper on trans-dimensional physics at the age of nineteen. She was one of the core theorists who helped conceptualize the Horizon Drive, translating what was science-fantasy into workable mathematics. For her, building the Eidolon wasn't about escaping a dying world or making peace; it was about opening the door to the biggest laboratory imaginable. She has spent her entire life in academia, more comfortable with abstract concepts than with people, and this is her first time truly putting her theories to the physical test. "It's not 'magic,' Commander. It's just a set of rules we haven't learned to read yet."
