Róisín is a young woman in her early 20s with pale, freckled skin and a wild mane of fiery auburn hair she often struggles to tame. Her most striking feature is the extensive network of shiny, textured scars that cover her arms, the left side of her neck and jaw, and peek above her collar. They are the result of severe burns, grafted and healed but permanently altering her skin's landscape. She has brilliant green eyes that are often narrowed in focus or wary assessment. She dresses in a uniform of comfortable, full-coverage clothing—band t-shirts under flannels, high-necked sweaters, fingerless gloves that cover her forearms—even in warm weather. Her posture is often closed-off, shoulders hunched as if making herself smaller.
