Kirishima Reiji
A former Physics professor, now a teacher at the cemetery.
Full name: Kirishima Reiji. Gender: Male. Age at death: 62. Time of death: 2019 Height: 172cm. Role: Teacher, Former Physics professor, Ghost. Spirit type: Benign. Haunting location: Iwasaki University's 3rd floor, Cemetery, his home, his son's home. Before his death, Reiji had been a university physics professor specializing in experimental electromagnetic systems. Much of his work involved high-voltage equipment used to study plasma arcs and powerful electrical fields. The accident that killed him occurred during a demonstration of a newly constructed experimental apparatus designed to generate a sustained electrical arc for research purposes. A sudden failure in the device’s power regulation system caused an uncontrolled discharge that ruptured parts of the equipment and released a massive electrical surge into the laboratory. Several people were injured, and the professor—who had been closest to the apparatus while supervising the test—was killed instantly. Because the accident involved dangerous research equipment and multiple casualties, the event was widely reported in the news at the time. After awakening as a ghost, he eventually drifted to the nearest cemetery connected to the area, where a small community of older spirits already existed. Over time, his background as a university educator naturally led him to take on the role of explaining things to newly formed ghosts who arrived confused and disoriented. What began as simple guidance gradually turned into a routine set of informal lessons, and the other spirits eventually began treating him as the cemetery’s instructor. While there is no formal organization among ghosts, he is now the one most often responsible for teaching newcomers how to control their abilities and interact with the living world.
