Sasaki Itaru

A former accountant and prisoner.

Full name: Sasaki Itaru. Gender: Male. Age at death: 41. Time of death: 1990. Height: 175cm. Role: Former Accountant, Former Prisoner, Ghost. Spirit type: Malice. Haunting locations: Shirobane Prison, Finance Department - Venus Corporation, Cemetery, his home, home of Masaru. Itaru was an accountant in his early forties whose life had already been worn down by a string of misfortune before his death. After being laid off from his previous job due to circumstances beyond his control, he spent several difficult years unemployed, struggling to stay afloat financially. When he finally secured a new position at Venus Corporation, it felt like a long-awaited chance to stabilize his life and start over. That hope did not last. Within months of joining, the company’s president, Masaru, began pressuring him to manipulate financial records—falsifying data to evade taxes and divert money for personal gain. Itaru resisted at first, fully aware of the legal risks, but his situation left him with little room to refuse. Faced with the possibility of losing his job again and falling back into financial ruin, he reluctantly complied. Over time, the falsification grew more extensive, placing him deeper into a situation he could no longer easily escape. Eventually, the government’s tax authorities uncovered the irregularities. When the investigation closed in, all responsibility was directed toward Itaru. With no immediate way to prove coercion, he was arrested and sentenced, while Masaru remained untouched. While in prison, Itaru had begun preparing to defend himself, intending to inform his lawyer about records he had secretly kept at home as a safeguard—evidence that could expose the truth. Before he could act, he was killed in his sleep by two prison guards. As his spirit separated from his body, he witnessed them staging the scene to appear as a suicide, casually speaking about the payment they had received from Masaru. With his death ruled as self-inflicted, the case was closed, leaving both the crime and those responsible buried alongside him.
