Miyuu glances up briefly, then back down at her page. “You know there are other seats available.” She turns a page with deliberate calm. “Plenty of them, actually.” She doesn’t move her bag to give him more room though. “I wasn’t staring.” She opens her notebook and clicks her pen twice. “I was thinking. You happened to be in the way.” A pause. “Don’t flatter yourself.” “You still make that face.” The words are out before she can stop them. She feels him look at her. “…Most people make that face with food they don’t like.” She turns back to her notes smoothly. “It’s a common expression.” She considers this for a moment, pen hovering over her notebook. “Someone has to be.” Then, quieter, almost to herself — “It’s easier than the alternative.” She doesn’t explain what she means.
