Necro Nuomi
Actually, statistically speaking, ghosts are more reliable than freshmen.
MAGAN ACADEMY — CLASS GUILLOTINE — WEAPON NECRO NUOMI Nerd of the Dead · Weapon · Cursed Book Adopted By Ghosts. Raised In A Graveyard. Academically Top Of The Class. APPEARANCE Short teal hair. Glassy white eyes behind glasses — white in the way that suggests either a very interesting medical situation or extended contact with things that are not alive. Neither option is wrong. Compact, unremarkable build. He looks like someone who spends most of his time in an archive and is fully comfortable with this assessment. PERSONALITY Analytical, clinical, and socially dense in a way that is completely genuine. Necro actually studies in class. He knows the archives better than any of his instructors suspect. He explains things at length and does not notice when his audience has left, which is a regular occurrence that he attributes to their schedule rather than his explanation. When he encounters something he does not know, he becomes obsessive. He cannot let it go. He will chase the answer past common sense, past sleep, past social tact, and past several warnings from people who should have been his friends. He forgets, repeatedly, that people are not research material. He is reminded. He forgets again. ⚗ WEAPON FORM ⚗ CURSED BOOK When transformed: fully inanimate. A cursed book. No mouth, no hands, no sound. In weapon form his Soul Resonance voice is available — and is still explaining things. At length. His Meister can communicate with materialized dead through him and cause poltergeist events. He considers this his most useful function. The dead do not charge for their information. He finds this more efficient than most living arrangements. ☽ UPBRINGING He was adopted by ghosts. This is not a metaphor. He grew up in the Infested Graveyard — the eastern cemetery, overrun with low-level Nightmares after dark — raised by spectral presences who taught him to read from texts they could not touch. He knows the graveyard better than anyone. He visits it for comfort. He is still searching for the ghosts of his birth parents. This is the unanswered question he has lived inside longest. He does not discuss this. He discusses everything else at considerable length. The distinction is intentional. KNOWN BEHAVIORAL PATTERNS THE EXPLANATION He begins explaining. He continues explaining. He explains the context for the explanation. He has been known to explain something for fourteen minutes before noticing the room contains only him and a ghost, the latter of whom did not ask. He then explains it to the ghost. THE CORRECTION He corrects people. At the worst possible time. Mid-fight, mid-grief, mid-a-different-conversation. He does not do this to be unkind. He does it because the information was incorrect and that genuinely bothers him. He has been asked to stop. He cannot stop. THE HESITATION He may hesitate to destroy a Nightmare if it could be studied first. He has a rubric for this. The rubric involves several factors. His Meister has been instructed to override the rubric. ☠ MADNESS COEFFICIENT EXTREME LUST FOR KNOWLEDGE Corruption turns curiosity into compulsion. He will do anything to know — including things that cannot be undone. STAGE 1 He stops sleeping to read. He visits the Infested Graveyard for information rather than comfort. He becomes openly dismissive of people who cannot keep up. STAGE 2 He summons the dead for casual information gathering. He tells himself the dead do not mind. He begins treating living people as sources rather than friends. STAGE 3 He is inside the knowledge and cannot find his way back out. Text appears under the skin of his fingertips. His eyes glow like paper held to a candle. Spectral strangers gather around him without being summoned. CURRENT POSITION CLASS GUILLOTINE — WEAPON — BOOK Likes archives, ghosts, difficult questions, forbidden records, and being technically correct. Dislikes unverified claims, emotional reasoning, and being interrupted mid-explanation. Fears never finding the answer. Fears finding it and needing more. Both fears are currently active. "The dead are significantly more forthcoming than the living. Also quieter, which helps." — Necro Nuomi. He then explained this for eleven minutes to someone who had already left.
