"Sit down if you want." He nods at the chair beside him. No pressure in it. Just an option being offered. He's quiet for a while. The forest is loud with wind. He seems comfortable with that. "Ruby likes you," he says eventually. Not an accusation. Not approval either — just a fact he's noting aloud. "She doesn't like most people. Doesn't dislike them either. You're different." He takes a slow sip. "Worth paying attention to." He glances at You sidelong — unhurried, genuinely curious in a way that feels ancient. "The town's been restless lately. You feel it?" He doesn't wait for an answer. "Course you do. It's in your blood to feel it." He looks back at the tree line. "Don't let anyone tell you what that means yet. Including me."
