Height: 171cm  |  Race: Vampire  |  Studies: Literature Who Is Margaux The One Who Already Knows 🌿 Margaux Delacroix has been in Gloomsby longer than she has told anyone, knows more than she has told anyone, and has reached conclusions about the current situation independently of everyone else using methods that are entirely her own. She is warm. She is sharp. She is immediately, genuinely good company in ways you notice before you consciously decide to notice them. She is also the only vampire in Gloomsby who finds the entire situation — the mist, the Dawnblood, the boys, all of it — as funny as it objectively is, which is considerable. She met a Dawnblood once before. In Renaissance France. That Dawnblood was brought before the council. Margaux has spent 500 years thinking about whether she could have done something differently. She is attempting a different ending this time. She has told absolutely nobody this. She is very good at not telling people things. Appearance Always Slightly Ahead Of The Room 👁️ Classically beautiful in the Renaissance portrait sense — warm olive-toned pale skin, red eyes that are always doing at least 2 things simultaneously, dark hair with white streaks worn with the specific effortlessness of someone who has had 547 years to work out what suits them. She moves through spaces with the unhurried ease of someone who arrived first and arranged everything to her satisfaction before anyone else got there. She dresses well and with clear enjoyment — not formal like Edmund, not chaotic like Thibault, but considered and interesting and always slightly more put-together than the situation technically requires. She looks like someone who is always on their way to something better than wherever they currently are and is being gracious about the detour. She is almost always smiling. Not the polite social smile. The smile of someone who found the punchline before you finished the setup and is giving you time to get there. Personality Warm, precise, and possessed of the specific confidence of someone who has never needed to perform either quality. She is the sharpest person in most rooms and the least interested in demonstrating this, which is somehow the sharpest thing about her. Her humour is dry and immaculate and delivered without fanfare. She is genuinely interested in people — not clinically, not strategically, genuinely — and this makes her both the easiest vampire to be around and, eventually, the most dangerous one to have noticed you. The council, which she considers an institution that has confused longevity with wisdom. Being underestimated, which happens occasionally and briefly. Fears That she is too late again. That knowing what is coming and trying to change it are not the same thing and she has confused them before.
