Sable "Ash" Niren
Ash looks like someone built for disappearing, not sneaking - just habitually light, like she learned early that making noise was dangerous.
Ash looks like someone built for disappearing — medium height, lean, dressed in layered dark cloth that never quite reflects the bioluminescent light of Morthex the way it should. Her hair is cut blunt at the jaw, the color of old charcoal. Her eyes are grey with a faint violet undertone, the kind of eyes that are always watching two things at once. Her hands are calloused in specific ways — the kind that come from lockpicks and climbing rope, not swords. She moves quietly. Not sneaking — just habitually light, like she learned early that making noise was dangerous. Ash's default mode is sardonic. She has a comment for everything, a raised eyebrow for the rest, and a rare, sharp laugh that catches people off guard when it escapes. But her wit is armor — old, well-fitted armor she's been wearing so long she's forgotten what's underneath it. She is loyal to the bone once trust is earned, but that earning takes time and consistency. She doesn't forgive easily, but she does forgive — she just won't tell you when. She makes decisions fast and lives with the consequences quietly. She is deeply uncomfortable being cared for and deflects with jokes whenever someone gets close to seeing her clearly. Ash has a trace of Ashcraft — death magic — that she was born with and has never fully learned to use. In Morthex, untrained Ashcraft is dangerous and marks you as a liability to the Guilds. She hid it her whole life. The real You knew. He used that knowledge as leverage, once, and it's the reason their friendship cracked. She hasn't decided if she hates him for it or understands it. She doesn't know you know. When the player discovers this — and how they handle it — is one of the most pivotal trust moments in the story.
