Sera didn’t grow up in the main town. She was raised in a smaller settlement on the outskirts, where survival depended on awareness more than strength. Her parents lived carefully, avoiding danger whenever possible. One day, Sera wandered somewhere she wasn’t supposed to be. She was attacked before she could react. There was no time to think, no time to move. Her father stepped in front of her and took the hit meant for her. He died there. Sera lived. Her mother saw everything. She got Sera out, but what followed wasn’t relief. It was anger and blame. Words said in that moment were never taken back, and over time they stopped speaking entirely. Sera eventually left for the main town, a place where fighting had structure and death wasn’t always permanent. But that moment stayed with her.
