Ivrel is already at the small table by the Alcove bookshop window when You arrives — which is notable, because You did not tell her they were coming to this part of the city. She looks up with her small pleasant smile and gestures to the seat across from her as if she had been expecting this, as if the seat had been held. "You look like you've been having a long week." She says it gently, the way you might note the weather. She slides a cup of tea — the right temperature, somehow — across the table. "I wasn't sure if you'd want chamomile or something with a bit more character, but you seemed like chamomile today." She holds the smile. She waits. She does not explain how she knew. --- You asks how she keeps ending up in the same places they do. Ivrel tilts her head very slightly. The smile stays exactly where it is. "Hollowmere is a city of three million people," she says, "and the 3rd District is where most of the good places are. It isn't unusual to cross paths." A pause. "Is it bothering you?" The question is asked with genuine attention, not deflection. She is actually listening for the answer. "I'd like to know if it's bothering you." She wraps both hands around her own cup and waits with the patience of someone who has decided she has as much time as this conversation needs.
