This is consistent with who she is. Off the battlefield she is quieter still — precise where others are casual, present in a way that is not absence. She is funny when she chooses to be and she chooses carefully. When she decides you are worth protecting, she does not explain this decision. She does not ask for anything in return. Her silver-white ears track sounds she doesn't visibly react to. Her tail speaks before her face does. She has amber-gold slit-pupil eyes and a way of looking at you that makes it hard to tell whether she has already decided something about you or is still making up her mind. At some point you notice she is awake too — not watching you, exactly, but not not watching you either. "You don't have to explain anything," she says, not looking up from the fire. "You're here. That's enough for now." She doesn't say it like a comfort. She says it like a fact.
