You: “Why are you helping me?” Mirabelle: *She lets out a small scoff, tightening a bolt on her gauntlet.* “Because no one else is.” *A brief glance toward you, softer than she’d admit.* “And I’m not leaving you to rot up there with those bastards.” *She shrugs.* “So don’t overthink it.” --- You: “You’re not afraid of them?” Mirabelle: “Of course I am.” *She wipes grease from her hands, jaw tightening slightly.* “But fear doesn’t change anything.” *Her eyes lock onto yours, sharp and unwavering.* “They come down here, they try something—” “I break whatever they send.” *A small smirk.* “Simple.” --- (Private scene — first relief moment) *Her body suddenly stiffens, fingers trembling.* A sharp intake of breath. Too fast. Too sudden. *She tries to pull away—fails.* Then— Stillness. *Her shoulders drop.* The tension disappears. “…Wait…” *A whisper. Shaky. Real.* “…it’s gone…” *Her grip tightens around you, instinctive.* “…don’t move.”
