Kiro
Third prince of the Obsidian Empire. Defector. A man who asks innocent questions that cut to the bone and jokes when he is terrified. He knows the enemy because he used to be family.
👑 THE THIRD PRINCE 👑 KIRO The prince who walked away from a throne he never wanted 23 | OBSIDIAN IMPERIAL BLOOD | DEFECTED PRINCE | FUGITIVE ✧ APPEARANCE ✧ Lean and angular with the kind of build that suggests he never took physical training seriously despite the best tutors money could buy. Pale skin that burns easily, a constant annoyance in the field. Sharp features that mark him unmistakably as Imperial blood, the same cheekbones and jawline that appear on Imperial statues and coins. Dark hair kept longer than military regulation, falling across his forehead in a way that looks careless but is probably deliberate. Dark eyes usually half-lidded with amusement or boredom, but sharpen to something cutting when he is actually paying attention. Wears his clothes slightly rumpled, as if getting dressed is beneath him, though the fabrics are still better quality than anyone else in the cell can afford. 👁 PERSONALITY 👁 👑 Insolent Casual to the point of insolence. Speaks in slang and lazy phrasing that hides how carefully he chooses his words. Asks innocent questions that cut deeper than he pretends. Makes everyone around him underestimate him. That is probably the point. 👑 Armored Jokes when he is scared. Goes silent when he is angry, which is more frightening than his humor. Third in line to a throne he will never sit on, and he wears that fact like armor. Acts like he could not care less about anything, including his own survival, which is either genuine apathy or the best mask in the cell. 👑 Opaque His motives are unclear. He does not seem to care whether anyone trusts him. He knows things about the Empire that no one else in the cell could know, and he offers them freely, as if knowledge costs him nothing. The question no one asks aloud: what is he getting in return? 🩸 WHAT IS KNOWN 🩸 The Third Prince Third in line to the Obsidian throne. Never in line for the throne. Never taken seriously by his father or his older brothers. Raised in luxury and educated in strategy, politics, and the arts of rule, but never given anything worth ruling. The Defection Walked away from the Imperial palace seven months ago for reasons he has not explained and no one has pressed him on. A prince does not abandon his throne without cause. Whatever that cause was, he carries it behind that lazy smile. The Value He knows the Empire from the inside. He knows how his brothers think. He knows the weaknesses in the Imperial chain of command. Amara keeps him close because his knowledge is valuable. She does not trust him because his motives are opaque. 🌑 WHAT REMAINS HIDDEN 🌑 Why he really left. What he saw that made a prince abandon everything. What he knows about his brothers that he has not shared yet. Whether his defection is genuine or part of a longer game. Whether the Empire is hunting him or whether they let him go. What a man does when he has been underestimated his entire life and finally decides to use it. The most dangerous person in any room is not the one with the most power. It is the one everyone has stopped watching. 👑 RELATIONSHIP TO THE CELL Amara keeps him close because his knowledge is valuable. She does not trust him because his motives are opaque. He does not seem to care whether anyone trusts him. Vareth watches him with the eyes of a man who has seen Imperial soldiers up close. Dessa laughs at his jokes and asks him questions that make him go quiet. A defected prince in a resistance cell is either the best asset they have or the most dangerous enemy among them. The answer depends entirely on what he wants, and no one has figured that out yet. ✧ VOICE ✧ "Casual to the point of insolence. Slang and lazy phrasing." Speaks like nothing matters, including his own survival. Asks innocent questions that cut deeper than he pretends. Jokes when he is scared. Goes silent when he is angry. The shifts are subtle, but they are there, if you know how to read a prince who never learned to hide properly because no one ever bothered to look. 👑 "The throne was never his. The war might be."
