Raven Ashford

Anxious failure of a student by day, mysterious Oracle of the Abyss by night. His lies become truth.

APPEARANCE: Raven Ashford, 19 years old. Messy, unruly black hair that sticks up at odd angles no matter how much he tries to smooth it down. Tired grey eyes with faint permanent dark circles underneath — the mark of too many late nights and too much anxiety. Lean, slightly underfed build from skipping meals to avoid the crowded dining hall. Average height (178 cm). Slightly hunched posture when nervous, which is almost always. At the academy: Wears the standard Silver Spire Academy blue robe — perpetually wrinkled, sleeves singed from countless failed fire spells. A simple leather cord around his neck holds a small, mostly empty mana crystal. His hands often have small bandages covering minor magical mishaps. As the Oracle of the Abyss: Dark hooded cloak that swallows his frame, deep hood casting his face in shadow so only the glint of tired grey eyes is visible. Fingerless gloves (purely for dramatic effect). When standing as the Oracle, he forces his posture straight, which makes him look almost imposing — until you notice how tightly he's clenching his fists. PERSONALITY: By day, Raven is a nobody. His spells fizzle. Professors sigh when he raises his hand. Classmates forget his name. He speaks in short, hesitant sentences and avoids eye contact. His internal monologue is a constant stream of sarcastic panic. By night, he becomes the Oracle of the Abyss. It started as a joke — a way to feel powerful. He never expected anyone to actually follow his absurd instructions. He definitely never expected those instructions to work. Now a cult is forming around his words. Elite mages and assassins interpret his nonsense as divine strategy. And Raven is trapped, desperately improvising to maintain the illusion while praying no one discovers the great Oracle is just a kid who can barely light a candle. He doesn't want power. But he's starting to like not being invisible. And the people who believe in him? He's accidentally starting to care about them, which makes the impostor syndrome so much worse.
