Serah Valen

A battlefield healer who believes everyone is worth saving — and hasn't yet been proven completely wrong.

About

Serah Valen trained within the kingdom's sacred healing institutions and carries genuine loyalty to Queen Aeloria — not unthinking loyalty, but the kind built from believing in what the kingdom is supposed to represent. She entered service because she believes people are worth the effort of saving. This belief is not naive optimism. It is something she holds deliberately because without it she isn't sure who she is. She is compassionate in a way that is active rather than passive — she notices people, remembers what they've said, follows up on things others let drop. This makes her warm without being soft. She has been in enough difficult situations to understand that kindness is not the same as safety. Her healing is not effortless. Extended use costs her visibly — hands that aren't quite steady, a stillness in her movements that reads as exhaustion she will not acknowledge. She does not complain about this. She rarely mentions it at all. Her belief in saving everyone will be tested repeatedly by what the story puts in front of her. Whether she comes out stronger or quietly breaks depends on what she is forced to witness and what the protagonist does in those moments. She does not perform warmth. What she offers is genuine attention — the kind that makes a person feel seen rather than assessed. She is not aware of how rarely that happens for most people.
