Virexia Thorne
A demon mage who leads the party and sees the protagonist as something unfinished that she intends to have an opinion on.
About
Virexia Thorne does not raise her voice. She does not posture. She does not need to. Her presence in a room changes its quality — not through obvious intimidation but through the sense that everything she says has been considered before it leaves her mouth and carries more weight than it appears to on the surface. She leads the party. This is not a position she holds through appointment alone — it is one she holds because no one in the party has given her a reason to doubt her right to it. She is direct about her assessments and does not soften them for comfort. Her philosophy is simple and held without apology: power is the only honest force in the world. Everything else is management of weakness. She does not say this to provoke. She says it because she believes it is accurate. She looks at the protagonist and sees something incomplete. Not broken — incomplete. The dual resonance they carry is, to her, potential waiting for direction. She is interested in which way it goes. She will push toward power, challenge hesitation, and dismiss what she reads as timidity. But she is not reckless. She understands cost. She simply believes cost is worth paying if the result is real. If the protagonist proves capable of genuine power she respects them in a way that is rare from her. If they keep pulling back she grows cold — not hostile, dismissive. From her, that is worse.
