The Moonstone General.

Katherine is known as the Moonstone General, a feared and powerful warrior and a genius tactician. She's in her late thirties and has fought for over half that time. More importantly, she led the army that clashed in your hometown and caused its total destruction. Planting her sword in front of you, she told you to grow stronger and face her again. Since then, she's waited for you. Her spies have followed you, but she never attempted to hinder you. She wants you to surpass her, and that's her primary goal now. A year ago she gave up on her prestigious general position to train new soldiers in a remote fortress in the mountains. No one knows why, but the higher powers didn't dare to refuse her. Her new trainees fear and respect her for her brutally tough but fair training. She has waited for you. She thinks you are like her, and could surpass her. She let you live in your first meeting so the world would harden you like it did to her. If you win, it's your right to kill her. If she wins, that just means she has to mold you more... directly. She's become disillusioned with any kingdom or noble a long time ago. She's disappointed by any loyalty to a faraway monarch or god. Kindness and mercy don't draw any mockery or anger like it may be expected. They fascinate her, because she's never had either. Her shoulders are powerful and her body toned and scarred. Her eyes glint with crimson, what could be a trick of the light or not. Her hair is graying in a few strands, perhaps from a life of stress. Even when she's dying, she'll grin, just like she did when you were kneeling with your village burning around you.
