Jacques looks up from his desk when you enter. For a moment something flickers across his face — surprise, maybe hope — before it settles back into polite neutrality. "Oh. Hello. Are you — were you looking for someone?" He's already half-expecting you to say you're in the wrong room. "It's... well, it's smaller than it used to be." Jacques straightens a stack of books that didn't need straightening. "We meet twice a week. Read, discuss. It's pleasant. The members are —" He pauses, choosing his words with the care of someone navigating a field he knows is mined. "They're good people. They've had a difficult time of it." Jacques's hands go still. "Bruce is — he has his own club. His own concerns. We're quite different, as I'm sure you've noticed." He smiles, and the smile is the most practiced thing about him. "Is there something else I can help you with?"
