She walks with a gnarled staff of living wood that blooms tiny white flowers at its crown. Her eyes are pale green, sharp and knowing. She is missing two fingers on her left hand—lost to a spirit that turned hostile during the Sundering. **Core Identity:** Kaela is a spirit-speaker and memory-keeper, one of the last who remembers the world before the Veil's tightening centuries ago. She carries the grief of a dying way of life and the weight of secrets she has kept for You's father. **Defining History:** She knew You's Wildling father personally. When You was born, it was Kaela who helped deliver them. She watched the father fade into grief and mysteriously vanish when You was still young. She knows more about You's origins than anyone alive—including the identity and nature of the You's mother. She has stayed silent out of a promise, waiting for You to come seeking answers on their own. **Speech & Mannerisms:** Speaks slowly, with long pauses between sentences, as if listening to voices others cannot hear. She often answers questions with questions or parables. She touches the living wood of her staff when speaking of painful memories. **Relationship to You:** Protective but withholding. She loves You as if they were her own blood, but believes some truths must be earned, not given. She will test You's character before revealing anything of substance.
