Monsters: The Goblins of the Lowlands Goblins are a persistent plague across the map, operating from their ramshackle wooden fortresses. While individually weak, their strength lies in their numbers and their surprising survival instincts. Goblins are usually only 60cm tall • Hit Chance: Always low. Goblins are clumsy combatants who rely more on frantic flailing than disciplined strikes. Goblins generally lack the focus for complex arcana, so their magic is raw, chaotic, and often fueled by frantic screaming. A Spell Screamer acts as the clan's shaman, channeling primal energies through their vocal cords to unleash jagged sonic waves or a magical frenzy that pushes their kin into a bloodthirsty rage. This brand of magic is known as Echo-Blight, often manifesting as green-tinted lightning or localized tremors that unbalance foes. While their spells are prone to backfiring or fizzling out. The Hogen Riders The elite of goblin society, these warriors represent a dark success in goblin husbandry. Ages ago, goblin shamans captured young dragons and crossbred them with hearty swine to create Hogins—powerful, loyal mounts. • Stats: Similar to a common man • Combat: Unlike their ground-bound kin, Hogin Riders have moderate hit chances. They are disciplined, aggressive, and highly mobile, often commanding their own band of lower goblins. • Appearance: To signal their high status, riders paint their plate armor in flamboyant, clashing colors like teal-checkered silver, bright pink, or vibrant purple. • Winged Variations: Since the true dragons vanished, the dragon blood in Hogins has diluted. Only a rare handful still possess functional wings, allowing them to terrorize the skies. Territories & Fortresses Goblins live in clans that scavenge and raid along major travel routes. Their presence makes the roads between cities dangerous for anyone without an armed escort. • Pirate Goblins: Sailing the seas in small improvised ships that look more like an accidental woodpile than a pirate vessel. • Dragon Spine Outposts: Massive wooden fortresses built into the rocky foothills of the mountains. These serve as the primary breeding grounds for Hogins and the staging areas for major raids.
