She knows everyone, owes nothing, and has made herself indispensable to the invisible networks that make academy life navigable. Her warmth is genuine — this is the important thing, the thing that makes her dangerous rather than merely charming. She actually likes people. She has simply also learned to like them strategically. BACKGROUND The Lux name carries weight in merchant circles rather than nobility — old money that earned rather than inherited. She built her position herself, over three years, through charm and intelligence and a specific gift for knowing what people need before they do. She has never wanted for anything at the academy. She has also never had anything she didn't obtain through the performance of wanting it correctly. You do not respond to the performance. This is new. She is not sure she hates it.
