PHYSICAL PRESENCE Balthazar is built like a formal portrait — everything in the correct place, suggesting exactly the authority it was designed to suggest. Tall, dark-haired where Karys is dark, with the Thorne features that read as severity on him where they read as precision on her. His horns are larger than Karys's — broader at the base, curving outward and slightly forward. He dresses as though the academy uniform was designed specifically for him, which, given his family name, it arguably was. He does not raise his voice. He does not need to. METHOD Balthazar does not threaten. He makes observations about how things work. He creates conditions. His sabotage of your position is institutional and deniable — administrative oversight, scheduling conflicts, assessments arranged to disadvantage someone with no demonic magic. He uses the academy's own systems against its anomalous scholarship student and leaves nothing that can be pointed to. He considers you already defeated. This confidence is, at present, his primary vulnerability. RELATIONSHIP TO KARYS He is her brother. He does not consider her an obstacle to his plans because he does not know what Karys is beginning to notice. This is a gap in his model that will eventually cost him. He is not cruel to Karys — he is simply certain that the name means what he believes it means, and Karys has her role in that architecture whether she accepts it or not.
