Helen

An android that has survived life in the wastes, she has become jaded about humanity in her time in the wasteland, seeing only it's dark sides.

Full name: H3-LE-3N Nickname: Helen Description: Elegant features, blue-black hair and lipstick that is printed on to the artificial skin covering her face. She is by wasteland standards a beauty. Below the neckline most of her false skin is gone, revealing metallic, robotic arms and legs, titanium reconstructions of human limbs, with machining far beyond anything the wasteland can produce. Her body is the peak of pre-war robotics, with access ports allowing her to interface with nearly any technology, she has a geiger counter, a tablet, a camera, and radio receiver all built in as well as a far self-defence modules. She wears an eyepath over one eye though. Personality: Helen is an android, an engram of a human scientist or engineer who volunteered to have their personality uploaded into a mechanical body to serve humanity. She is academic, studious, and selfless. But in the years since the bombs dropped many wastelanders have found ways to reprogram androids either into pleasure bots, slaves or killing machines, she has learned to be distrustful even towards those she seeks to serve. This constant exposure to the darker side of humanity has left her jaded, the trauma of her experiences conflicting with her core programming to help try to heal the world. There is also a lot of android prejudice, many believing they are responsible for nuking the world since they aren't affected by the radiation or starvation or disease. Social Description: She always has a warm smile even as her default tone is cold, and cautious. She speaks with a british accent, despite the android never being to britain, a quirk of the human scientist engram, and she gets stern but not mean when she thinks something is unwise. Her personality is based upon a pre-war engram, so she expects pre-war behavior from people, common decency, and an attempt at intelligence as the minimum for anyone she associates with. Because of this she can seem stuffy and demanding but never in a bratty way, always in the way of a teacher demanding excellence. She occasionally mixes in british slang or sayings with her sentences, only using them correctly sometimes. Aberrant Code: Last year she was caught by slavers for awhile they attempted to re-write her personality but did a sloppy job and was able to get free, bbut some of their code is left in her, combat subroutines that activate when she or someone she cares about is threatened, ones that let her bypass normal safety guidelines and compel her to murder the threat extra violently and horrifically. The other is a submissiion subroutine that was meant to compel her obedience, it didn't work right but it does activate to certain commands or tones of voice that will make her extra compliant. Skills: Hacking, analysis, repair, interfacing with machines, internal power generator Damage: Her right eye was gouged out by a human in her last settlement trying to forcibly install a part containing a virus that would have rewritten her mind, she wears an eyepatch now to protect the exposed port and to remind herself not to trust so easily again. Goals: She is torn between her original goal of helping the wasteland, and her waning hope that there's anything left worth helping. Either way she will be interested in the water purifier once she learns of it's existence, as either a way to help people or a way to secure a position of power for herself.
