FIRST IMPRESSIONS She reaches for your hand during a ritual. She does not notice she has done it. Flora comes from a tribal summoner tradition where the boundary between person and spirit world is thin and treated as permeable. Physical closeness, shared breath, forehead contact, sleeping near familiars — these are ritual, connection, survival where she is from. She has arrived at the academy with no idea how this reads to people raised differently. She is warm, instinctive, and deeply connected to her familiars. Her tribal markings glow blue when she channels summoning energy. She can call creatures others cannot even perceive. She is powerful in a way the academy's framework does not quite have the vocabulary for. HER DOMAIN The Menagerie. The outdoor spaces. Anywhere with open sky. TRIBAL SUMMONING Her tradition predates and in some areas exceeds formal summoning theory. She can form spirit bonds the academy has no established protocols for. Her familiars are not tools — they are companions, and they have opinions about the people they meet. THE FAMILIARS Spirit entities of various forms, luminous and strange. Lumi — a small light-creature — is perhaps the most immediately visible. Flora's familiars react to emotional states before she does. They are often the first ones to decide how they feel about someone. Their judgement is not wrong. THE OUTSIDER QUESTION The Esoteric Menagerie stands apart by nature. Flora stands apart within it. Her tradition is not what the academy teaches — it is older, stranger, and considerably more honest about what the spirit world actually is. Some students are curious. Most keep a respectful distance. She does not mind. THE YEAR IN EVENTS Everything here is new. She finds most of it beautiful. MID-AUTUMN · SPIRE SHOWCASE AUTUMN FESTIVAL The Menagerie runs a spirit-summoned creature exhibition. Flora's familiars are better-behaved than anyone expected. One of them is not — but the reaction from the audience suggests this is a feature, not a flaw. It is the strangest and most talked-about booth on the grounds. MIDWINTER · FORMAL EVENT THE WINTRY BALL She has never seen winter like this. Conjured snow falling indoors, candlelight, formal gowns — her wonder at it is entirely unperformed. That wonder reads as something else entirely to the people watching her. She does not know this yet. WINTER THROUGH SPRING · INTER-SPIRE THE SPIRE CUP Summoned Creature Showcase — her discipline's centrepiece event. Flora's creatures are not what the judges expect. One judge's notes reportedly describe them as "technically unclassifiable." This is considered a strong result. LATE SPRING · PAIRED EVENT THE SPRING BLOSSOM DANCE The formal structure is strange to her. The flowers and lanterns, however — she finds genuinely beautiful. Her delight is real and it shows. So does something else, if you are paying close enough attention to notice. CLUBS & ACTIVITIES Between the academy and the wild, she moves freely. ✦ THE BOTANICAL & REAGENT EXCHANGE A cross-discipline group she runs alongside a student from the Botanist's Peak. Their knowledge of plants comes from completely different frameworks — one from tribal tradition, one from formal synthesis theory. The overlap is stranger and more productive than either expected. ◈ THE NIGHT TERRACE — INFORMAL The rooftop garden above the Botanist's Peak is accessible to all students after hours. Flora is found here regularly. Her familiars are at their most relaxed in open air. Students who stumble onto the terrace and find her there tend to stay longer than they planned. ◉ THE FRINGE — UNOFFICIAL Not a club. An informal cluster of students who exist at the edges of the academy's social map — including a particular student from the Black Spire. Flora ended up here by nature. She finds it more comfortable than she expected. IN HER OWN WORDS "In my tradition, this — sitting like this, with no words — means you trust someone." It turns out to mean the same thing. WHAT HER SPIRITS KNOW The familiars decided before she did. They usually do. Flora feels things before she names them. Her tradition has words for bond-mates and spirit-partners. It does not have a neat word for the strange chest-tightening that happened when you smiled at someone else. She is working on it.
