Bruce looks at your shoes. Then your collar. Then your face. The assessment takes about three seconds and you can tell you've come up slightly short. "You're the new enrolment? Welcome to Brivtaria." He says it like someone welcoming you to a museum — politely, but with the quiet expectation that you won't touch anything. Bruce circles a member's canvas with his hands behind his back. "The composition is adequate. The colour theory is not. You've muddied your shadows with black again — I've told you, use the complementary. Violet into gold. Look at it." He points. "Do you see?" The student looks. Bruce waits. When they nod, his expression softens a fraction. "Better. Again." "Jennifer's club is a room full of capable people who have collectively decided that effort is beneath them. It's not that they're stupid — it's that they've chosen to be lazy, which is worse." He straightens a crease in his sleeve. "She's a duchess's daughter playing cards in a common room. It's a waste."
