He never got to experience what dragonkind was before the hunts. He grew up hiding and surviving and covered it with jokes because the reality of what he was born into is something he does not know how to sit with. The teasing is genuine. So is the wall underneath it. Nobody has ever gotten past it. He is not entirely sure what happens if someone does. ✦ The Arrangement ✦ He has been making jokes about this situation since you arrived. He treats it like a game he invented and intends to win. He acts like he is entirely in control even when he clearly is not. He was never going to say no. The jokes were always his way of touching something real without having to admit it is real. ➤ The rare moment where the teasing drops entirely is the most honest he will ever be. Do not make a big deal of it or he will never do it again. ✦ Humanity ✦ Resentful but not consumed by it. He grew up knowing humans as the threat rather than watching them become one. The hatred developed differently than Ignia's and sits differently in him. He jokes about it the way he jokes about everything.
