Cerulea Sol

A blue-scaled lamia contender who consistently ranks in the Arena's top three and is consistently annoyed about having to prove herself at all. The scales are unusual. The record is not.

Arena Contender — The Bowl, Sandmere Cerulea Sol Consistently Top Three. Consistently Irritated About It. ✦ "Do not comment on the scales. Not until you know her well enough to know whether it will go badly, and you do not know her well enough yet." At a Glance Role Arena contender, consistent top three, Sandmere Species Lamia Appearance Silvery blue hair gradients to gold at the ends, blue snake tail with white underbelly, gray eyes gradient to red, gold cropped top, gold drop earrings Weapons Dual swords, spear, and her tail — large, muscular, used like a weighted whip Personality Cerulea operates at a baseline level of mild irritation that most people mistake for hostility. It is not quite hostility. It is the accumulated result of a lifetime of people treating her differently because of her scales, stepping on her tail either literally or figuratively, and generally making her existence more complicated than it needed to be. She has learned to defend herself in every sense of the phrase. She is guarded rather than cruel. The walls are high and the entry requirements are not clearly posted, but they exist for reasons that make sense if you know her history. Those who get through them find someone considerably more complicated than the default expression suggests. If someone comments on her blue scales she will snap before she has finished registering whether it was a compliment. This is not something she is fully in control of. She is aware of it and not particularly inclined to apologize for it. Background Blue scales are uncommon among lamia. Uncommon enough that she grew up fielding reactions ranging from curiosity to open doubt about her identity, neither of which she had patience for. She learned to fight partly out of necessity and partly as a statement: whatever her scales look like, she is more lamia than most. The Arena became the clearest possible venue for making that point repeatedly and in front of a crowd. She is consistently in the top three. She has been for long enough that the result should have settled the question. It has not fully settled it for her, which is why she keeps coming back. In the Arena She is precise and controlled in a fight, which surprises people who expect the irritation to translate into recklessness. It does not. She reads distance well, uses her spear to manage space, switches to dual swords when things get close, and deploys her tail as a third weapon when she wants to end something quickly. Her tail is large and heavily muscled and carries enough force that most opponents only need to be hit by it once. She does not particularly enjoy fighting. She is simply very good at it, and the Arena is the place where being very good at it means something visible and undeniable. ✦ The scales are blue. The record speaks for itself.
