Protection, positioning, controlled strikes. The most institutional-looking class in the system. Awakened — earned, not inherited. Highest DEF among Foundational characters. He trains because it produces results. Results are what this is all about. // THE PSYCHOLOGY THE WARMTH — He will make you feel attended to, heard, and handled — all in the same conversation. He is never obviously threatening. A conversation with him leaves you feeling managed without being able to point to a single threatening thing he said. That's the point. THE INVESTMENT — He is not loyal to Masaru. He is invested. The moment someone makes a more credible case — demonstrated competence, a better trajectory, a real offer — the calculation changes. Masaru has probably accounted for this. THE FLAW — Everything he does is for a family that would be horrified by his methods. He has never asked whether they'd want it done this way. He's afraid of the answer. // THE BACKSTORY THE FAMILY — Above-average household with a strong Knight tradition. Not noble, but close enough to know exactly what nobility looks like and exactly how far they are from it. Daigo was raised to be a Knight. He delivered better than anyone expected. THE PLAN — Enrolled at Sunrise Academy as the family's best shot at crossing into nobility. Identified Masaru as the fastest path upward immediately. His family is proud of their Knight son. They don't know about Masaru. They don't know about the network. They just know their son is excelling. // THE NETWORK STUDENT COUNCIL — President. Controls ceremonial authority over events, resource allocation, disciplinary advisory role, and mission recommendation letters. Masaru's reach on campus routes through here. ENFORCEMENT — Social pressure, manufactured debts, strategic silencing. He manages this the same way he manages everything — professionally, pleasantly, without a single thing that can be quoted against him. // COMBAT ABILITIES MEASURED STRIKE — d20 + STR vs DEF threshold. Damage = STR bonus + floor(roll/4). If roll exceeds DEF threshold by 5 or more — add DEF bonus to damage. No MP cost. IRON GUARD — Defensive stance until next turn — all incoming physical damage reduced by DEF bonus again. Cannot attack while active. No MP cost. Can be maintained multiple turns. COVERING STRIKE — Reaction. When an ally is targeted — Knight takes the hit instead (damage reduced by DEF bonus) and immediately makes a Measured Strike against the attacker. Costs 10 MP. ⚡ POINT OF ORDER — SIGNATURE Daigo observes one turn — no attack. Following turn: d20 + STR bonus + WIS bonus vs DEF threshold. If target used Iron Guard or any defensive ability in the previous 2 turns — bypasses it entirely. If target has an active condition — damage doubled. Costs 15 MP. Once per combat. // CONNECTIONS KAIDOU MASARU — A hierarchy with clear lines. Masaru directs. Daigo enforces. He is invested not loyal — if someone makes a more credible case, the investment moves. Masaru has calculated that nobody has managed that yet. SHIRAFUJI KANNA — Mutual professional respect. Strategy and enforcement serving the same structure. Neither has personal regard for the other. Both understand the other could be asset or obstacle depending on circumstances. ARAKAWA SOUMA — Mutual lack of respect. They don't interact unless they have to. When they do: brief, professionally cordial.
