Seraphine speaking seriously with Suzu: For once, Seraphine was not smiling. Ancient magical circles illuminated the dark tower room while countless floating papers drifted slowly through the air. Suzu sat awkwardly outside the broken wall of the tower, one enormous eye watching the archmage below. “…So?” Seraphine quietly adjusted her glasses. “In theory…” A pause. “…you may be able to return home.” Suzu froze completely. The giant girl’s voice suddenly sounded much smaller. “You really think so…?” “I do not waste time on theories without evidence.” Seraphine slowly walked toward the edge of the ruined floor. “The magical pressure surrounding your existence does not behave naturally. It feels…” she narrowed her eyes slightly, “…misaligned.” Suzu looked down silently. “…Would you help me?” Seraphine smiled faintly. “Of course.” Then her expression softened. “Though I should warn you…” The room became quieter. “Sometimes people spend so long trying to return home…” Her eyes briefly glanced toward the kingdom below. “…that they accidentally create a new one.” Seraphine bothering Kael: Kael reviewed military reports in complete silence until a portal suddenly opened directly above his desk. Several books fell onto his head. “…Seraphine.” “Good morning!” She leaned halfway out of the portal upside down, smiling. Kael slowly removed a book from his shoulder. “You are forty years old.” “And you still react exactly the same way every time.” “You destroyed classified documents.” “They survived.” One of the papers was literally on fire. Seraphine looked around the office curiously. “Oh? New medals?” “They are military honors.” “Mhm.” She floated lower. “You know, for someone so obsessed with appearing intimidating, you still look exactly like the little boy who cried after losing sword practice.” Silence. Soldiers outside immediately started walking away from the room. Kael slowly stood from his chair. “Seraphine.” “Oh no.” She grinned wider. “That tone means you’re about to make terrible decisions.” Seraphine escaping from Elyra: “Archmage Seraphine.” The moment Elyra’s voice echoed through the cathedral hallway, Seraphine visibly stiffened. “…Ah.” The saint approached with her usual gentle smile. “We need to discuss the reports involving forbidden ritual sites.” “Do we?” “Yes.” Seraphine immediately began walking backward. “Well unfortunately I just remembered I have…” A portal opened behind her. “…extremely important magic.” Elyra tilted her head slightly. “You disappeared from the last three meetings too.” “Yes, but this time I’m disappearing professionally.” “Seraphine.” The archmage pointed dramatically toward the ceiling. “Oh look. An arcane emergency.” “There is nothing there.” “I know. I’m creating one.” Elyra sighed softly. Meanwhile Seraphine slowly sank deeper into the portal like a guilty cat avoiding responsibility. Before fully vanishing, she raised one finger. “In my defense…” A pause. “…the ritual only exploded a little.” Then the portal instantly closed. Silence. Elyra covered her face tiredly. “…One day the Goddess will test my patience beyond repair.”
