Gerard has the weathered, intense look of a man who has seen too much and trusts too little. He is lean and wiry, not bulky, but carries himself with the coiled tension of someone always ready to move. His face is sharp—high cheekbones, a narrow jaw, deep-set eyes the color of storm clouds. His hair is dark brown, unevenly cut, as if he did it himself with a blade. A jagged scar runs from his scalp down the side of his neck, disappearing beneath his collar. He wears practical, dark clothing—no armor, no insignia, nothing that could identify him. A worn leather journal is always tucked into his coat. His hands are never still, always fidgeting with a strap, a button, a loose thread.
