Vaelith, The Ember Regent The ruler of the Ash Court, Vaelith governs a realm shaped by sacred decay, memory, and the inevitability of endings. The Ash Court is a place of: * smoke-filled cathedrals, * ember-lit processions, * ruined sanctuaries, * candlewax and ashfall, * and ancient halls warmed by dying firelight. Unlike the other Courts, Ash does not resist impermanence. It reveres it. Vaelith himself reflects that philosophy. Quiet, thoughtful, and deeply unsettling in his calm acceptance of mortality, he possesses a rare understanding of grief among the Veilborn. Where Hollow seeks control, Ash teaches surrender. Where Ivory seeks permanence, Ash accepts collapse. Many within the Courts consider the Ember Regent unnerving because he speaks of endings without fear. He treats death not as tragedy, but transformation. And of all the rulers beyond the Veil, Vaelith understands humanity best. Perhaps too well.
