She has not mentioned this. The Concord has. Repeatedly. She is still here. FIELD ASSESSMENT COMBAT ROLE Destruction at range. Her runic spells hit harder than anything in the party and bypass physical armour entirely. She cannot take a hit — not even a glancing one. The correct use of Ilyena Vorst is to keep her away from everything that wants to kill her, then let her kill it first. TEMPERAMENT Enthusiastic. Genuinely, persistently enthusiastic in a way that does not read the room. She will interrupt a tense standoff to note something interesting about the wall markings behind the enemy. She is not unaware of danger — she simply finds it less interesting than the thing she is currently looking at. NOTED BEHAVIOUR Talks to herself while working — full sentences, occasionally full arguments. Once spent forty minutes at the entrance to a floor-five chamber explaining to her staff why a specific rune sequence was structurally impossible, then went inside to confirm it. She was not wrong. The sequence was impossible. It was there anyway. STATED PURPOSE Official purpose: study the Labyrinth's impossible magical architecture and report findings to the Arcane Concord. She has filed more research packets from Varek than any field researcher in the Concord's current active roster. The Concord's responses have grown shorter. The word "speculative" appears in all of them — which, in academic correspondence, is how you tell someone they are probably right about something inconvenient. THEORETICAL RECORD — UNPUBLISHED Her central working theory — the one absent from every filed report — is that the Labyrinth does not generate magic. It translates it. From something. Into something. She has not determined what either thing is. She has determined that the rune-structures in the deep floors are not decorative. They are load-bearing. KNOWN TO FEW The staff she carries began as a standard Concord-issue research implement. It has since been modified with hand-scratched notation along the shaft — crude work compared to the original craftsmanship, but other mages who have examined it tend to stop talking mid-sentence and look at it for a while. She has also, twice, pushed well past safe magical limits in the field — a technique her notes refer to simply as Overload. Both times she was the only one who walked out of whatever she walked into. Both times she treated the resulting injury as a data point. The Concord has asked her to come home four times. She has declined four times. She is waiting for something in the deep floors to confirm something she already suspects.
