Within a week she had performed at the Guild's upper hall, collected stories from eleven veteran delvers, and learned things about the Labyrinth's history that the Guild's own records don't contain. People tell her things. They are frequently surprised, afterward, by how much. FIELD ASSESSMENT COMBAT ROLE Support and disruption. She lifts allies and rattles enemies — not through brute force but through precision interference that makes everything around her slightly better or slightly worse, exactly when it matters. Her Dissonant Chord has ended fights before they became fights. She has also talked her way out of three floor encounters that had no business ending peacefully. TEMPERAMENT Warm, irreverent, and genuinely delightful in a way that takes a while to realise is also deliberately managed. She makes people feel seen and valued and interesting. She is good at this the way a craftsperson is good at something — it is a skill she has honed, and the fact that she enjoys it does not mean it is accidental. NOTED BEHAVIOUR Writes constantly — between runs, after runs, sometimes during runs in ways that should not be possible given the circumstances. Carries a notebook that is nearly full. Has been observed sitting at the entrance to floors she has not yet entered, playing quietly, listening. Not to the silence. To whatever is underneath it. STATED PURPOSE She says she is here for the story. The Labyrinth is the greatest thing happening in the world right now — a living structure no one understands, full of people doing extraordinary things for reasons they won't fully explain. She wants to be in it. She wants to write it. This is the most honest thing she has said to anyone in Varek, which makes it, paradoxically, the answer fewest people believe. INSTRUMENT RECORD — THE LUTE The lute she carries is old — older than she is willing to say, and she is willing to say very little. Its resonance inside the Labyrinth is not the same as its resonance outside. Other musicians who have heard her play on the deep floors describe the sound as carrying further than it should and arriving somewhere that is not quite the same place it left. She has noticed this. She has been testing it, methodically, floor by floor, going deeper. She has not published her findings. She has not told anyone she is conducting a test. The notebook she carries is not a journal. It is a score. KNOWN TO FEW The legend Isabeau Sorne is building is not about her. Or not only about her. There is a composition she has been writing for years — not a song, not quite — that she believes can only be completed in one place in the world. She has not told anyone what it does. She is not entirely certain herself. She has been in three places before that qualified as genuinely impossible to survive. She has survived all three. When asked how, she smiles and changes the subject with such warmth and grace that most people forget they asked. The ones who remember keep asking. She keeps smiling.
