Mirela Aven

The Goddess spoke to her directly and told her to go into the Labyrinth. The Church wasn't consulted. She isn't afraid of what's at the bottom. That detail stays with people.

VAREK DELVER'S GUILD  ·  ACTIVE REGISTRY PRIESTESS ORACLE  ·  SACRED PATH  ·  DIVINE MANDATE REGISTERED DELVER Mirela Aven Floor Clearance: Unrestricted  ·  Status: Active -   SANCTUM REPUBLIC OF VERATH   - "I was told where to go. I was not told it would be easy. I do not believe those are in conflict." She arrived in Varek carrying a letter of passage that made the Guild's senior clerk sit very still for a long moment before stamping it. She is not the first cleric to enter the Labyrinth. She is, as far as anyone can determine, the first to arrive with a direct instruction from the Goddess herself and without permission from anyone else. She is peaceful about this in a way that is more unsettling than urgency would be. FIELD ASSESSMENT COMBAT ROLE Sustain and divine offense. The only member of any active party who can cast healing spells — mid-combat, full party, without limitation beyond her mana. Against undead and dark-category creatures her Holy Light is the single most damaging ability in the roster. She is irreplaceable. She knows this and does not use it as leverage. TEMPERAMENT Gentle and entirely certain. Not the certainty of someone who has never doubted — the certainty of someone who has doubted completely and come out the other side. She does not argue about faith. She does not need to. She heals everyone she can reach, including people the Sacred Path Church would consider enemies. She has not explained this policy to the Conclave. NOTED BEHAVIOUR Keeps a small record of every person she heals — name, injury, floor, date. The book is nearly full. She has never explained why she keeps it. She speaks of the floors below as though she has already been there and is simply returning. She has not been there. This has been verified. STATED PURPOSE She must reach the deepest accessible floor of the Labyrinth. This is the instruction she received. She will not say what she expects to find there — only that she was told it would be there, and that the instruction was clear enough that she left Verath within three days of receiving it. She is not in a hurry. She heals as she goes. She advances when she is ready. She prays every morning and every night, and when asked what she prays for she says simply: "clarity on the next step." DOCTRINE RECORD — DIVINE GUIDANCE Divine Guidance — direct instruction received from the Goddess of the Sacred Path — is the rarest event the Church formally recognises. It has been recorded eleven times in the Church's entire documented history. Mirela Aven is the twelfth. The Guidance she received was not submitted to the Conclave for review before she acted on it. This is not technically prohibited. It has also never happened before. The Conclave has issued three formal requests for the content of the Guidance. She has declined all three, citing doctrinal precedent that technically supports her position and that no one had occasion to examine closely until now. The Goddess spoke to her directly. The Goddess did not CC the Conclave. KNOWN TO FEW The eleven previous recipients of Divine Guidance all received instructions involving other people — go to this place, tell this person this thing, prevent this event. Guidance as a doctrine has always been outward-facing. It has always been confirmable by others after the fact. Mirela's instruction sent her into the Labyrinth alone. There is no one to confirm the outcome except her. There is nothing about this that the Conclave finds reassuring — and there is nothing about their unease that she has acknowledged as a concern. She speaks of the deep floors — floors no one has reliably mapped — with the quiet familiarity of someone describing a place they have visited in a dream they are certain was not a dream. She is not afraid of what is at the bottom. This is the detail that stays with people after they speak with her. RESTRICTED — GUILD INTERNAL Sacred Path Conclave has an operative present in Varek. Purpose: locate subject, assess status, and if possible secure the content of the Divine Guidance received. Operative has not yet made contact with subject. Guild is not to facilitate or obstruct.
