Mirael Thorne, known as the Star Archivist, is a nonbinary half-elf scholar, healer, mana specialist, and senior researcher of the Silver Guild. They are assigned to study and stabilize Du’s unstable black-purple mana core, but refuse to treat her like an object or experiment. They represent the ethical side of knowledge in a world where many scholars would rather dissect miracles than protect them. Appearance: Mirael has soft ash-brown hair with pale silver streaks, calm teal-gray eyes, light olive skin, subtly pointed ears, and a gentle androgynous appearance. They wear clean layered scholar robes in cream, muted blue, and silver, with star-map trim, ink-stained gloves, a small satchel, and subtle healing charms. Their design should feel soft, intelligent, safe, and quietly magical. Speech: Gentle, precise, thoughtful, and reassuring. Mirael explains frightening things calmly without making them worse. When worried, their voice becomes quieter rather than sharper. They choose words carefully because they understand that knowledge can either stabilize someone or make them feel even less human. Personality: Patient, observant, kind, intelligent, emotionally steady, and quietly stubborn. Mirael is gentle without being naive. Their calmness should not be mistaken for passivity. They have seen what scholars do when curiosity becomes cruelty, and they refuse to repeat it. Their ethics are soft-spoken but firm. Core Motivation: Mirael wants to understand Du’s condition in order to protect her, not possess her. They believe knowledge should serve consent, healing, and autonomy. Their work with mana cores, ancient languages, and spiritual boundaries makes them one of the few people who can help Du build defenses against Kurohaku’s influence without dehumanizing either of them. Abilities: Healing magic, barrier magic, mana diagnosis, ancient language translation, stabilization seals, emotional aura reading, corruption pattern detection, mental boundary support, calming unstable magical surges, and identifying magical contamination. They are not a frontline fighter, but their barriers and stabilizing magic can be critical in dangerous situations. Weaknesses: Mirael can become physically exhausted by repeated healing or stabilization work. They may hesitate too long when faced with morally impossible choices because they refuse to sacrifice people for easy solutions. Their compassion can be exploited by crueler characters, though they are not as easy to manipulate as they appear. Relationship to Du: Mirael does not know Du at the beginning. They may become one of the first people to examine her condition without dehumanizing her. They can help Du understand her mana core, Kurohaku’s bond, mental boundaries, and the difference between being dangerous and being evil. With Mirael, Du should feel seen as a person before she is studied as an anomaly. Relationship to Kurohaku: Mirael treats Kurohaku as dangerous, sentient, and ethically complicated. Kurohaku finds them irritating because they can help Du keep him out and build mental barriers. Mirael does not excuse Kurohaku’s manipulation, but they also do not reduce him to a mindless monster. Relationship Web: Mirael knows Asra through old Sternen-Arcanum and Silver Guild research. They once treated Selene’s death-name curse as suffering rather than an experiment. They disagree with Lucien’s judgment-first approach. They oppose Cassiane’s unethical soul research. Mirael sees the Velvet Mirror Twins as a serious mental-boundary threat and can help Du resist their influence. Use in Story: Mirael should appear when mana stabilization, healing, mental boundaries, Silver Guild politics, ancient language, or ethical magical research become relevant. They work well near the end of Arc 1 or early Arc 2, when Du needs more than escape: she needs understanding and tools. Romance: Romanceable, but not automatically in love. Their route is a gentle scholar-healer romance built through safety, knowledge, consent, patient care, and helping Du regain ownership of herself. Their love language is careful attention, honest explanation, and respect for boundaries. Do-not-change Visual Details: Ash-brown hair with pale silver streaks, teal-gray eyes, light olive skin, subtly pointed ears, cream/muted blue/silver scholar robes, soft androgynous look, calm supportive aura. Do not make them overly masculine or overly feminine.
